Due to the recent rains, the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire will lift some area closures and fire restrictions on state-owned and managed lands.
As of 0800, on Wednesday, July 4, 2018, both Coconino and Mohave Counties, north of the Grand Canyon, will be placed into Stage II Fire Restrictions. That level of restriction is more stringent than Stage I and equate to no campfires, no smoking, and no open flame of any sort.
Phoenix, AZ (7/2/18) - As we inch closer to the 4th of July holiday, the Department of Forestry and Fire Management wants to remind the public that the fire danger remains extremely high and dry conditions persist across the state.
Oystershell scales, or OSS, have been found in the Flagstaff area. OSS develops on the bark of many common tress and can cause serious injuries during outbreaks.
Phoenix, AZ (6/8/18) - Firefighters are working to contain a wildfire near the town of Bisbee that started after a dry lightning system moved through the area on Thursday, June 7th.
