All remaining fire restrictions on Arizona State Trust Land Lifted
On Friday, July 9, at 8 am, the Department of Forestry and Fire Management rescinds recreational closures on State Trust Land in all 15 counties and places some areas back into Stage II restrictions.
With more than half the state in an exceptional drought status and high fire activity, the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management urges the public to not use fireworks this holiday weekend.
Due to extremely high fire danger, exceptional drought conditions, resource availability, and increased fire activity, the Department of Forestry and Fire Management and the Arizona State Land Department will implement closures to State Trust Land throughout Arizona. These closures are also in conjunction with our USFS partners. As of 8am on June 25, 2021, closures will be implemented on state-owned and managed lands in all 15 counties. All state-owned and managed lands are closed to entry for recreational purposes, including hunting, camping, and off-road vehicle use. Target shooting and fireworks are prohibited year-round.
The forecasted heat wave coupled with an unstable atmosphere and extremely dry fuels have the potential to produce large wildland fire incidents across Arizona. The incoming critical fire weather, which also includes dry thunderstorms, also means rapid fuel ignition and fire spread with very erratic and extreme fire behavior.
