Phoenix, AZ (6/8/18) - Firefighters are working to contain a wildfire near the town of Bisbee that started after a dry lightning system moved through the area on Thursday, June 7.

The 1700-acre Judd Fire is burning in rough terrain on Mule Mountain and showing signs of active fire behavior, with high fire activity on the north and southeast sides of the fire.

More than 100 fire personnel are assigned, including multiple hand crews, engines, and aviation resources. Due to the fire’s location, additional aviation resources are on standby, if needed.

The fire is burning through dry vegetation, including scrub oak, tall grasses and brush.

Weather will play a factor in suppression of the fire, as wind gusts, hot temperatures, and another storm system are forecasted for the area over the next few days.

Currently, the fire is not threatening any structures and there are no values at risk.
