More State Land to be Lifted of Restrictions
Phoenix, AZ (7/17/18) - Additional rainfall, along with increased humidity levels, have decreased the fire danger enough to allow the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management to lift more closure orders and fire restrictions on state-owned and managed lands.
At 0800, on Tuesday, July 17th, State Forestry will lift the closures in Apache and Navajo Counties.
Fire restrictions will also be lifted in Gila and Greenlee Counties.
However, some state-owned and managed lands remain in fire restrictions, including Stage II restrictions in Maricopa County.
While state lands in Coconino and Mohave Counties, north of the Grand Canyon, along with La Paz and Yuma Counties remain in Stage I restrictions.
“We want to thank the public for their patience and cooperation with our area closures and fire restrictions. The early implementation, coupled with our aggressive fire prevention messaging, and increased firefighter prepositioning allowed us to significantly reduce the number of acres burned so far this year,” said State Forester Jeff Whitney.
As always, target shooting and fireworks are never allowed on Arizona State Trust lands at any time of the year.
