About the Office of the State Fire Marshal:

The Office of the State Fire Marshal, under the Department of Forestry and Fire Management, is responsible for inspecting 15,000 state and county-owned buildings. Each year, Deputy Fire Marshal's inspect nearly 3,200 buildings, including schools.
The duties of the Office of the State Fire Marshal serve to reduce hazards to life and property through enforcement of the Arizona Fire Codes. The office shall perform its duties by conducting inspections and fire investigations, by providing public education, and by adopting fire prevention codes.
As part of the fiscal year 2017 budget, the Office of the State Fire Marshal has been consolidated into the Department of Forestry and Fire Management. The consolidation aids in government efficiency, preserves critical functions, and has the potential for cost savings. All of the Fire Marshal's previous powers have been preserved and became part of the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management's mission.
***Effective January 31, 2017*** we will no longer be accepting Permit Applications for the Installation, Modification or Decommissioning of Underground Storage Tanks on behalf of the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ). All permits issued before this date will receive the necessary inspections by the Office of the State Fire Marshal.

Fire Safety Inspection Request Portal
The Fire Safety Inspection Request is for non-permitted inspections only. All inspections for permitted work must be submitted through the Permit Application, Inspection and Payment Portal.
Fireworks
New fireworks regulations under ARS 36-1601 through 36-1609, regulate where fireworks can be bought, sold, and used in Arizona. Fireworks sales are also restricted to certain times of the year and types of fireworks that are able to be purchased. Fireworks are never allowed on state for federal lands.
Arizona Fire School
The 2024 Arizona Fire School expo will occur Wednesday, September 4 through Sunday, September 8, 2024.

This year will be the 51st Annual Arizona Fire School, which will provide educational sessions from Basic Skills Training, Fire Prevention, Investigation, to Fire Leadership. It is one of the best training experiences available at any venue in Arizona.
Registration for 2024 Fire School will be available in Summer 2024.
